Phillips of Evington (Campbell County), Virginia; a monthly library report for Virginia Tech; a 1914 Virginia Tech commencement program; a receipt for an American School of Home Economics correspondence course; and a brief letter about a financial matter.

William Bradford Alwood Collection

William Bradford Alwood was a professor of horticulture, entomology, and mycology at Virginia Tech (1891-1904) and fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Polly Ashelman Collection on the John McLaren McBryde Family

The Polly Ashelman Collection on the John McLaren McBryde Family, Ms 2019-017, contains items from former VPI President McBryde. Before becoming the fifth president of the university, McBryde attended South Carolina College, the University of Virginia, and served in the confederate army. McBryde recieved medals from South Carolina College and UVA as well as gifts during his presidency which are included in this collection.

Abstract Howard S. Avery graduated from Virginia Tech in 1927 with a B.S. in Mining and Engineering. He worked for the American Brake Shoe Company, later known as the Abex Corporation, as a research metallurgist from 1935 to 1971. The Adolph Samuel Bair Photographs were taken on the campus of the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (VPI) during the 1920s. The photographs depict Bair, the campus, and the VPI Corps of Cadets. Bair (1902-1988) graduated from VPI in 1924.
